Can Ryan’s appeal help Romney win key swing states?

PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA: He said that new sources of energy like wind are imaginary. His running mate calls them a fad. During a speech a few months ago, Governor Romney even explained his energy policy this way. I am quoting here — “You can’t drive a car with a windmill on it.” That’s what he said about wind power. “You can’t drive a car with a windmill on it.” Now, I don’t know if he’s actually tried that. I know he’s had other things on his car
.

HANNITY: By the way, does the president forget that he admitted to eating a dog? Now, if that is not a sign that the Obama campaign is in panic mode, I don’t know what is.

But while the president and his team of spin masters are throwing mud all in an attempt to distract you the voter, Governor Romney and Congressman Ryan, they are out on the campaign trail putting forth bold solutions about how to get this country back on track and get people back to work. Here’s what Congressman Ryan said earlier today. He was in Colorado.

REP. PAUL RYAN, R-WIS., VICE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE: We are offering solutions. And among those solutions we are offering are number one, make sure that we use our own energy because we have our own energy in this country.

The last week, when I was filling my truck up, it cost 100 bucks. And the only reason it cost 100 bucks is because the pump cut me off at a $100, I didn’t even fill the gas tank. Enough! We have our own oil and gas. We have nuclear. We have all of the above — wind, solar, coal, let’s use it. Let’s make our energy independence. Let’s create jobs –

Microsoft Stops Publishing Windows Phone Apps Amidst Glitch

10 Apps Windows Phone 7 Needs to Succeed Microsoft on Tuesday temporarily stopped publishing new apps to the Windows Phone Marketplace after discovering an issue with its new digital certificates.
Redmond said the glitch only affected phones that upgraded to Windows Phone 7.5 “Mango” from an earlier version of the OS, and apps that were published in the last few days.
“Some customers who try to download a new app may see an error message,” Todd Brix, senior director for Windows Marketplace, wrote in a blog post. “If they’re attempting to update an existing app, they might repeatedly be prompted to retry the update. We don’t recommend that people uninstall these apps because they might not be able to download and use them again until we deploy our fix.”
Brix did not have a hard date for when new apps would again be published in the marketplace, but said Microsoft had identified the problem and was working to fix it “as quickly as possible.”
Microsoft created a new thread in its MSDN forums for developers who have questions about the delay.
In a separate blog post, Microsoft’s Mazhar Mohammed said Microsoft estimated that the problem only affected a “small percentage” of the 100,000+ apps in the marketplace. But that includes the New York Times, WhatsApp, and Translator from Bing since they all recently issued new updates.

Samsung Designer Defends Copycat Icons In Apple Case

Apple’s early witnesses, designer Christopher Stringer, who told the court how hard his team had worked on the iPhone and iPad designs, and VP of iOS software, Phil Schiller, had both rubbed elbows with Steve Jobs. Samsung had no equivalent star to put on the stand, but it was finally backing up its claims Tuesday with a qualified design person. Wang has been nominated for designer of the year at Samsung and will receive a multi-million dollar price if she wins.

Wang is a senior designer at Samsung and her job title now includes creative director. Taking the stand in black pants, black blouse, and a pleated-in-the-back, lapels-in-front, pink business jacket, she presented a striking figure as Samsung’s lead icon designer. She had to speak through an interpreter, but she sat dignified and erect, sure of herself in the unfamiliar setting of a U.S. District Court room.

Previously, the members of the Korean design team had lacked any real substance. The chief strategy officer of Samsung Telecommunications America, Justin Denison, was its main representative. He was a responsible voice but it was clear he hadn’t spent much time at company headquarters and was primarily associated with the U.S.-based STA business unit, a portrayal that distanced him from Samsung’s design team in Seoul and Gumi, Korea

Sony gears up for PlayStation Mobile launch this fall

The unit of Sony Corp said on Tuesday its service will be available in nine countries including Japan, United States and Canada, with other countries to follow. Previously branded the PlayStation Suite, it will provide a platform for third-party software developers and publishers to create new content like games for portable devices. Makers of iOS and Andriod devices depend on content to boost hardware sales and a community of developers to generate application software content. Sony did not fully elaborate on its PlayStation Mobile plans in terms of costs and revenue projections, but it has pinned its long-term growth on mobile and gaming devices. Asustek Computer and Wikipad Inc will also join Sony’s PlayStation Certified license program, the company said. This partnership will provide users of Asus and Wikipad handheld devices access to PlayStation Mobile content.
